Family Support Services

The Family Support Services Program supports families that have an individual with mental retardation and/or another developmental disability living in the family home. The program promotes the unity of the family by helping them meet the special needs of the child or adult who has the developmental disability.

We offer a variety of services to families, including:

• Respite Care
• Special Diets
• Counseling, training and education for parents and other members of the family
• Lease or purchase of adaptive equipment
• Assistance in modifying the home to facilitate the care of the individual
• Other services needed by the family to maintain the individual in their home

Cost of Services

The cost to families is based on a sliding fee scale of the household's taxable income. This scale is determined, and updated periodically, by the Ohio Department of MRDD.

Eligibility for Family Support Services

Families residing in Tuscarawas County that have a family member residing in the home and who has been determined eligible for services from the Tuscarawas County Board of MRDD are eligible for our Family Support Services.
