Starlight School

At the Starlight School, we take a team approach to needs and programming. For children to attend Starlight, there must be two areas of delay, with cognitive delay required. We emphasize readiness skills and functional academics for our younger students, and vocational independence skills along with community experience the focus for our older students.

In addition, we provide an Early Intervention Program and Preschool Program.

Early Intervention

We believe it is very important to begin services with the individual as early as possible — virtually at birth. The first three years of life are the most critical in your child's development and The Starlight School Early Intervention Program, working in collaboration with the "Help Me Grow" system, helps facilitate that development. Our program features Therapy Services including physical, speech and occupational.

Preschool Program

Children aged three to five who show two areas of delay are eligible for Starlight Preschool classes. Placement is by the family's school district. Attendance is five full days per week in an integrated setting with enrollment of "typically developing" children.

School

The Starlight School serves children aged six through 21. Children must have two or more areas of delay, one of which must be cognitive, and be placed by the family's school district. We provide educationally based therapy, adapted physical education, health services, transportation and Special Olympics participation. Programming for younger students emphasizes readiness skills and funcational academics, while programming for older students emphasizes vocational and independence skills.
