

Special Olympics Tuscarawas County provides a year-round recreational, sports training and competition program for eligible students and adults ages eight and older. Special Olympics contributes to the physical, social, and psychological development of those who participate. The experience helps them gain confidence and build a positive self-image which carries over into the classroom, home, job and community.

Throughout the year, Special Olympics Tuscarawas County offers the following programs:
Special Olympics provides individuals the opportunity to compete in a variety of sports, including those listed above. The athletes train and work hard on a local level to gain the chance to compete at the area, sectional, state and national games. Whether they win a gold medal or a ribbon, they come home a winner.
Our local orgorganization has hosted the Basketball Tournament at Dover Middle School. These tournaments are qualifying events to move up to competing at the State level. All athletes must compete at an Area and/or Sectional event prior to attending a state event.
